However, a major part of the research considers the best delivery time for email newsletters. <a title=\"Why Do People Hate Cold Emails &amp; What Can We Do to Let Them Love Ours?\" href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/blog\/cold-email\/why-do-people-hate-cold-emails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsletters and cold emails are not the same<\/a>, so can we apply those newsletter studies to cold emails as well? What is the best time to send email campaign?<\/p>\n<h2>What the research shows<\/h2>\n<p>Last week, I came across the post reporting the Sidekick\u2019s survey on the most annoying email pet peeves. Among the questions asked to the respondents, there was one about receiving late night emails. The survey revealed that 91% of addressees do not mind getting emails in the middle of the night, and only 9% claim that sending emails at night is unprofessional and rude.<\/p>\n<p>That was just a small part of the survey, but the comments to the post seem to focus on that question to a great extent. \u201cTo send, or not to send emails at night?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that\u2019s statistics. And statistics depends very much on the group we are studying. Which is why I decided to find some more statistics considering the\u00a0best time to send email campaign and compare the results.<\/p>\n<h2>More stats&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>So I\u2019ve run through a few other articles with statistics on\u00a0<a title=\"The Science of Social Timing Part 2: Timing &amp; Email Marketing\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kissmetrics.com\/science-of-social-timing-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KissMetrics<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Perfect Timing: The Very Best Time to Send Email Newsletters\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wordstream.com\/blog\/ws\/2014\/09\/04\/best-time-to-send-email-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WordStream<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Why the worst day of the week is the best day to send emails\" href=\"http:\/\/customer.io\/blog\/timing-week-day-email-sending-schedule.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Customer.io<\/a>,<a title=\"What our data told us about the best time to send email campaigns\" href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignmonitor.com\/blog\/post\/4207\/best-time-to-send-email-campaigns-by-device\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Campaign Monitor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And it appears that depending on the study, there are some differences in specifying the optimal time for email delivery. Plus, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kissmetrics.com\/science-of-social-timing-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KissMetrics\u2019 article<\/a>, there is also a distinction between the types of content sent in an email and the effectiveness in terms of the desired actions of recipients.<\/p>\n<h2>What can we conclude from all of that?<\/h2>\n<p>So what is the best time to send email campaign after all? The answer to that question will be different for each of us, because:<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s our target group that specifies the best day and time for email delivery. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And that probably works both for newsletters and cold emails. If we know our recipients well, that is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>if we\u2019ve done some <a title=\"How to Make My Cold Emails Personal? Vol.1: Research on My Prospects\" href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/blog\/cold-email\/how-to-make-my-cold-emails-personal-vol-1-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">research<\/a> before sending,<\/li>\n<li>if we discovered how they work, what they appreciate and what they hate,<\/li>\n<li>if we talked to a representative sample of the group we\u2019re addressing,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>we will know what the optimal time for sending cold emails is. Of course, this won\u2019t work for 100% of our addressees. But it will work for the majority of them.<\/p>\n<h2>The reality of finding the best time to send email campaign<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, it takes time to discover the best time to send email campaign. Before sending our cold emails at\u00a052Challenges, we had some basic knowledge when to send emails (based on articles like those mentioned above).<\/p>\n<p>But we quickly discovered that the most replies were sent to us on weekends. On working days, most fitness pros replied to us either early in the morning, or late at night \u2013 because that\u2019s when they were checking their emails.<\/p>\n<p>After talking with trainers, we confirmed our assumptions considering their workflow. They wake up early in the morning (for me it was more like in the middle of the night) and start their day earlier than office workers \u2013 because personal trainers work with the office workers before the latter get to the office.<\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s a \u201cdead zone\u201d to one is the best time to another<\/h3>\n<p>So usually, we wouldn\u2019t expect someone to reply to us at 5 or 6 in the morning. According to the research by KissMetrics, it\u2019s the \u201cdead zone\u201d. But for some trainers, not only was it OK to get an email before 6 AM, but also to talk to us on the phone at 7 AM, because they actually started their day 3 hours before 7 AM.<\/p>\n<h2>What\u2019s in it for you?<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s all about knowing your addressee who is not only a part of a\u00a0statistical group, but above all, a living person on the other side of the screen. You\u00a0can start with statistics \u2013 because otherwise, you wouldn\u2019t know where to start at all.
