California Consumer Privacy Act goes into effect on <\/span>January 1, 2020.<\/span>\u00a0 Since major tech companies are based in California, the law may set standards in the whole US.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

What’s the California Consumer Privacy Act?<\/h2>\n

The California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA for short, was approved by <\/span>California’s State Governor<\/span> back in 2018.<\/span> It regulates the ways personal information is being used in a transactional sense, that is when a business<\/span> makes a profit on consumer\u2019s data.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, it seems that it concerns the one-time use of personal information, unlike GDPR which controls data processing.<\/p>\n

Who does the California privacy law concern?<\/h2>\n

The law gives Californians greater insight and control over the ways their personal information is used by businesses. That sounds a bit like GDPR, which regulates personal data processing.<\/p>\n
